Bamboo Cafe is a business initiative to bring training and the opportunity for dignified employment to victims of poverty and survivors of human trafficking. As an organisation we reach out to the lowest and poorest in a nation. They suffer from extreme poverty and the relentless blight that is the human slave trade.
As a girl, being rescued from a brothel is not the end of the injustice she suffers.
After being physically and emotionally restored, educated and trained, these girls find it almost impossible to secure employment due to their status. They are the lowest of the low, and as such no one wants to be associated with them. Our strategies include building businesses for the girls to work in, and once skilled, operate and run the business. One such business is our training café – named Bamboo Café.
Bamboo Café offers hope and a sense of purpose for these precious girls, as they learn new skills that lead to new futures with a renewed sense of value. As they progress they will benefit from being able to support themselves as well as their families; thus assisting them to avoid being trapped again in the vicious trafficking industry.
We have secured a building, and the construction phase is now completed. The formal opening took place in a festive ceremony in early 2019.
Fundraising activities continue to allow further development and additional trining opportunities to be added.
This is an exciting time for all of those involved in this project, and we truly appreciate any support you are able to provide.
